He has no ankle, so kicks the heel-toe shifter with his heel. This caused premature wear of the shifter forks.

This was removed from low mile 2001 Electra glide classic that is owned by gentleman who left leg below-knee amputee. It went on a shelf, probably been there couple of years. Harley part, fits only 2000 and 2001 Softail, Dyna Touring model's. Before this part became obsolete, it was only available in a kit with the shifter forks and pillow blocks.
